BEIJING, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese production of "The Marriage of Figaro," a four-act comic opera by Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, is set to return to Beijing stages from Nov. 24 to 30, according to its producer the National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA).

Starring both Chinese and foreign performers, the production retells how servants Figaro and Susanna succeed in getting married, foiling the efforts of their philandering employer Count Almaviva to seduce Susanna, teaching him a lesson in fidelity.

The Chinese production of the opera in August 2013 was an instant success, the NCPA said.

This time, it will offer audiences a new take on the original farce by reproducing the intricate ensemble and Serbian city scenes to the music of the China NCPA Chorus under the baton of renowned conductor Francesco Lanzillotta.

The original farce was based on a libretto by Italian poet and librettist Lorenzo da Ponte, who was best known for his collaboration with Mozart, and premiered in Vienna in 1786.
