MADRID, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Spain's acting Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, called on Tuesday for a broad support from voters in the new general election to be held on Nov. 10 in order to avoid deadlocks when forming a government.

Sanchez made the remarks at a press conference held at the Palace of la Moncloa, the seat of the Spanish government, after Spanish King Felipe VI said he would not propose any candidate for prime minister, as no one had enough support, following a two-day round of contacts with party representatives.

"The result is clear", Sanchez said, "there is no broad majority to form a government. The country will have to hold a general election in November".

Sanchez blamed other political parties for the deadlock, especially left wing party Unidas Podemos, which had asked for a coalition government with the socialists, an option that they would not agree on.

"Spaniards talked very clear last April and in May, but two conservative political forces and a leftist political force did not listen", he said, adding that "we ask Spaniards to talk even clearer on Nov. 10", he said.

There are still six days left until Sept. 23, when if the situation has not changed, the King would dissolve the chambers and call for general election again, the fourth one in four years.
