CHONGQING, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- The 2019 China Cup ISU Grand Prix of figure skating will be held in Chongqing from November 8 to 10 at the Huaxi Sports Center, it was revealed on Wednesday.

The ISU Grand Prix is a series of senior international figure skating competitions organized by the International Skating Union. This year's China Cup constitutes the fourth of six events, and will feature 60 participants from ten countries who will compete in men's singles, women's singles, pair skating and ice dance categories.

"How exciting it is to think about an ice-and-snow event held here in Chongqing," said Shen Xue, chair of the Chinese Figure Skating Association, noting that this will be the first time the China Cup has been held in the country's southwest.

Zhao Hongbo, head coach of China's figure skating team, expressed hopes that the event would help to popularize figure skating in the region. "Climate and temperature don't bothering us any more, for where there's a 1,800 square meter pitch, there will be world champions," he added.
