RAMALLAH, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- A senior Palestinian official warned on Monday that the Israeli assaults on Palestinian prisoners may lead to an "explosion" of riots and violence in Israeli jails.

The warning was issued by Qadri Abu Bakker, head of the prisoners' affairs corporation affiliated with the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), in a press statement in which Abu Bakker said the Israel Prison Service (IPS) assaulted the Palestinian prisoners in the prison of Ofer.

"Israeli suppression forces broke into two sections in the prison, and expelled five prisoners to other prisons and then 20 others into solitary rooms after damaging their personal belongings," he remarked.
