SHIBERGHAN, Afghanistan, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Security forces have captured eight militants including a senior judge of the Taliban in northern Jawzjan province, provincial police chief Abdul Wahid Wajdan said Sunday.

Mawlawi Nasir, head of Taliban court for Pashtun Kot district of the neighboring Faryab province, was taking some injured Taliban fighters to a local hospital on Saturday when police identified and arrested him along with his seven men, the police chief told Xinhua.

A number of documents and Taliban leaflets have been discovered from his possession, the official added.

Taliban militants are yet to make comment.
