KHARTOUM, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Chairman of Sudan's Transitional Military Council (TMC) Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan on Monday received an official invitation from the Saudi king to attend the 14th session of the Islamic summit.

The summit will be held in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, by the end of May, said the TMC in a statement.

Al-Burhan received the invitation from the Saudi Embassy in Sudan, the statement said, adding the summit intends to enhance the solidarity among the Islamic states and discuss issues of the Islamic nation.

The TMC is tasked with running Sudan's affairs following the ouster of former President Omar al-Bashir.
