TEHRAN, April 14 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Petroleum Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said Sunday that the U.S. continued pressure and sanctions against the Islamic republic will negatively affect the global oil market.

"Mr. Trump has to decide whether he wants to put pressure on Iran or keep fuel prices at U.S. gas stations low," Zanganeh was quoted as saying by state IRIB TV.

"Currently, Venezuela has some problems," and Russia has been under sanctions and there is still unrest in Libya, he said.

Besides, in some parts of the United States, oil production has stopped, he said, adding that these developments indicate that situation of supply and demand is "very fragile."

"If they want to increase pressure against Iran, the situation will become even unpredictable," he warned.

Following U.S. exit from the Iranian nuclear deal in May last year, Washington returned sanctions on Iran's energy exports and demanded Iranian oil and gas customers to reduce and stop their deals with the Islamic republic.
