PRAGUE, April 1 (Xinhua) -- A trolleybus and a tram collided in Brno of the Czech Republic on Monday, injuring about 40 people, including 12 in severe condition, according to local media report.

The accident occurred shortly after 2:00 p.m.local time. The site has been closed for traffic and the injured been sent to the nearest hospitals.

Only the driver was aboard the tram heading from the centre of Brno when the collision happened. The trolleybus was going in the opposite direction.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
