CHANGCHUN, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Former speed skating world champion Yu Jing of China is considering coming back from retirement to compete at the Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022.

"Yes, it's possible," said the 33-year-old Yu, who was here to watch a national speed skating event. "I love skating, I am in good conditions, I think I can give it a shot."

Yu became the world sprint champion in 2012, setting world records in both the sprint combination and the women's 500 meters. She held the world record in the sprint combination until Heather Richardson of the United States bettered it in January 2013, and the world record in 500 meters until South Korean Lee Sang-hwa broke it in November 2013.

However, Yu has never won a medal at any Winter Games, finishing a disappointing ninth in the women's 500 meters at the PyeongChang Games in 2018.

"Whether I can take part in the Beijing Games? We'll see," said Yu. "If the timing is right, if I feel good, it's possible. I think I will be pretty close to Beijing if I can come back to compete again."
