MADRID, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- Spanish shares gained on Monday, with the benchmark stock market index Ibex-35 up 0.90 percent or 79.60 points, to a total of 8.936.40 points.

A total of 28 of the selected 35 large companies gained in the day.

Spain's third-largest bank Caixabank advanced 2.49 percent, energy company Ence rose 2.44 percent and media company Mediaset went up 2.41 percent.

Hotel chain Melia Hotels dropped 5.75 percent, steel manufacturing corporation ArcelorMittal went down 1.19 percent and electricity company R.E.C. fell 0.95 percent. Enditem
