BUCHAREST, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- Romanian and Moldovan ministers on Thursday signed an agreement to vigorously promote cooperation in tourism during a joint governmental meeting attended by the two prime ministers.

"At this point, the cooperation between the two governments is more intense than ever," said Romanian Tourism Minister Bogdan Trif who signed the document with visiting Moldovan Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Chiril Gaburici.

"We share the same history and the same values. That's why this collaboration agreement was born out of the belief that we can also share a common future," he said, noting that "Romania is willing to make all the efforts to support the Republic of Moldova in maintaining its European track and tourism is a field that can accelerate this."

The new agreement stipulated the strengthening of cooperation in investment projects of common interest in tourism, through the development of projects that can benefit from the financial support of the European Union, as well as a sustained exchange of information regarding investments and facilities in this field.

According to official Agerpres news agency, Romania already drafted some common cultural route with Moldova. "Stephen the Great Route" for one includes many cities and places associated with Stephen the Great, ruler of Moldova (1457-1504) who was renowned in Europe for his long resistance to the Ottoman Turks.

"The Wine Road" is another bilateral project which will include many wine cellars in Romania and the Republic of Moldova, to promote the two countries as a destination for foreign tourists, especially those from the Asian market.
