KUALA LUMPUR, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Former Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was detained on Thursday by the country's anti-corruption body.

In a statement, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said Ahmad Zahid was detained shortly after being summoned to its headquarters.

The commission said Ahmad Zahid was detained over investigation related to criminal breach of trust, money laundering and abuse of power.

He will be presented before a Kuala Lumpur court on Friday to face charges under Malaysia's anti-corruption and anti-money laundering laws, the statement said.

Ahmad Zahid, 65, has received several rounds of questioning by MACC.
