PALEMBANG, Indonesia, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- China took 4 out of 6 gold medals in the canoe and kayak competitions at the Asian Games on Thursday.

China's gold medals came from women's 500m canoe doubles, women's canoe singles, 1000m men's kayak doubles and 1000m men's canoe doubles.

The other two gold medals of the day were taken by Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in 500m men's kayak four and 1000m men's canoe singles respectively.

The canoe and kayak competitions at the Asiad have a total of 15 gold medals up for grab. The championship which would run until September 1 here saw an entry of 22 teams from the 45 OCA member associations.
