LA PAZ, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Brazilian Foreign Minister Aloysio Nunes said Monday that Brazil supports Bolivia to become a full member of the Southern Common Market (Mercosur).

Brazilian President Michel Temer is willing to help Bolivia become a full member this year, Nunes said at a press conference here following a meeting with his Bolivian counterpart Fernando Huanacuni.

Mercosur, a regional bloc aimed at promoting free trade and the free flow of capital, labor and goods, currently has four full members, namely, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay.

On the differences within another regional trade bloc, the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR), Nunes proposed that parties have dialogues so as to keep the multilateral group intact.

"We have to seek out dialogue within the framework of UNASUR as a way to overcome these impasses that are blocking the work of this organization," Nunes said.

Brazil is bent on ensuring UNASUR's survival as a bloc that tackles a range of issues, from health to transnational crime and border security.

UNASUR, established a decade ago to counter U.S. influence in the region, has seen six of its member countries suspended their memberships amid differences over the choice of the leader for the group.
