TEHRAN, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Iran's President Hassan Rouhani on Thursday congratulated his Azerbaijan's counterpart Ilham Aliyev on the latter's reelection win.

The result of the presidential election in Azerbaijan was an indication of the Azeris support for their incumbent government's programs and their country's pace of development and progress, said Rouhani.

He expressed the hope that the "brotherly" relations between the two countries would further continue by Aliyev's reelection, while wishing happiness and prosperity for the neighboring nation.

It was announced in Baku on Wednesday that President Aliyev had won 86.09 percent of the votes to allow him to rule for seven more years.
