MAIMANA, Afghanistan, March 15 (Xinhua) -- At least one militant has been killed and three others injured as security forces operations against Taliban insurgents have been continuing in the northern Faryab province, an army spokesman in the northern region said Thursday.

The operations, according to Mohammad Hanif Rezai, is underway in Goroghli area of the troubled Shirin Tagab district since Wednesday and so far one insurgent has been killed and three others sustained injuries.

Without mentioning the possible casualties of security forces, Rezai said that crackdown against militants would continue until Shirin Tagab district and adjoining areas are cleared of the insurgents.
