MAPUTO, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- The government of Mozambique and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) signed an agreement in Maputo on Friday to cooperate on the fight against drug trafficking, particularly in the airports.

The UN Office will support Mozambique in technical skills and supervision of the airports and the document to materialize this agreement, which was signed by Mozambican Foreign Minister Jose Pacheco and the UNODC's regional representative Zhuldyz Akisheva.

The authorities admit that criminal organizations' worldwide operating is more complex, which is the reason why it is important to involve international agencies in this fight.

The minister said on the signing ceremony that the success of operation against drug trafficking can be achieved if there is coordination between all agencies.

Mozambican airports and other frontiers are repeatedly used by criminals as corridors in southeastern Africa for trafficking drugs and other illegal articles
